Viral Video Success: Volkswagen’s Fun Theory

In case you missed it, an amazingly good example of a social media campaign. Take note those of you searching for ideas to jump start a social media campaign.

Essentially, VW is trying out new ideas on changing behaviour. Their theory is – if you make something fun people will be more willing to do it. They’ve gotten people to use the stairs instead of the escalator and to throw more garbage into a garbage bin using a simple sound effect.

What does VW have to do with changing behaviour? Who knows? They do have a reputation for being a bit kooky.
