The best way to predict your future is to create it.
Umm, so what are we creating? Apparently, we have to do good.
So I know the title is totally confusing and if you have semi-decent grammar you’re saying something’s not right.
So here’s the deal, Seth Godin did this presentation three years ago and recently posted the video link on his blog.
I’m not going to spoil it for you, but basically there a lot of things that we, as individuals and companies overlook because, hey, it’s either ‘not our job’ or ‘we didn’t know it was broken.’ (more…)
So I’m pitching this idea around the premise of “helpful professionals” and it’s this; how cool would it be if for everyday inconveniences you had your own personal helper. And then the wall I’m hitting is this, how to convey that we could be ‘supportive, approachable, professional, friendly,’ but not on an individual basis.

Really persuasive talented sales people boast about being able to, “sell coal to the devil” or “ice to an Eskimo.” Obviously it’s a lofty boast but a clear indication that they’re that good. Selling someone something that not only is there a ready supply, but something that they don’t have any emotional connection to and definitely don’t need. I mean, if an Eskimo needed anything to be cold he could just put it outside. Ice? A refrigerator? Come on. (more…)
No Sunday lunch is complete without macaroni pie. A delicious, hearty side dish to a Sunday meal. A complex procedure of boiling macaroni, adding the right amount of milk, cheese, salt, eggs, and maybe an individual ingredient that gives it a distinguished mark to its’ maker. After it’s been semi-cooked, it has to be put in a greased dish and then covered with more cheese and baked.
Not everyone can make a great macaroni pie, but a Sunday lunch without it; is a lunch with something missing.
My personal take on what makes a great macaroni pie is not just in the detail and process, it’s in the continuation of the love throughout it. It’s the cook desire to make it the best, cheesiest pie for the hungry family that will be eating it. And so it is with the products we love best. (more…)
Twitter is so much fun! Real life time posts, by real people; some famous. You read people’s stuff (strangers) and if you feel moved, you drop a line and all of a sudden, you’re on their virtual doorstep bringing a casserole.
So obviously I’m following Starbucks. Yesterday they posted a link about “Paying it Forward” . A CNN report about a simple act of kindness. First received with astonishment, now destined to become a norm in the culture of Starbucks. (more…)
