Butting heads is the old way which does not work today.
- Forget your competition and focus all your energies on your customers instead
- Evangelize your brand with your staff. Goal: They should be a personification of your brand
- Break down the walls between sales and marketing. In fact, breakdown all the walls in your company
- Get some innovation DNA if you do not have. Now
- Start a conversation with your customers and actively encourage it
- Be open to having customers become part of your team
- Be honest in everything you do
- Be fair in everything you do (including your treatment of the environment)
- Be your own best competition. Nurture dissent
- Know that the world is your market and your market is fair game
