23 predictions for 2023 in T&T

1. after 42 years of marriage, I will remarry the same woman because of the outstanding customer experience.

2. marketing people will complain about not being so sure about social media but still keep piling on the $$ there

3. an influencer will embarrass their client and make bad for other influencers

4. freelancers and in-house agencies will keep annoying agencies who thought that we had a God given right to exclusivity to all clients, especially the big ones

5. we still won’t have a media track survey that’s endorsed by the media and agency associations. so we will continue to rely on a 2014 MFO study and thank God for Allison and Media Insite

6. marketing folks still won’t embrace customer experience because they have more important things to do like approving a post for world left handers day

7. agencies will still not know if the campaign worked because no one tells them anything, except to send back ups of invoices they sent 3 months previously

8. brand managers and agency account executives will leave their desks, cancel meetings for the day and go out into the world and have conversations with real consumers

9. those agencies working from home will say good things about wfh and those doing hybrid will say good things about hybrid.  those working fully from the office will only say bad things about working fully from the office and spending 3 hours in their car, listening to their favourite radio station or podcast and cursing the government

10. event planners will continue to do a better job at events than agencies, who pretend to be able to do everything under the sun

11. pepper will start an e-mail business

12. pepper will start a digital contest business and those boxes you see in supermarkets, pharmacies and retail stores will be donated to the national museum

13. agencies will stop giving away strategy for free

14. you may have heard of the phenomenon of employees quiet quitting? some agencies will quiet quit and not tell anyone that they have gone out of business because they will have no clients to tell

15. clients will write copy and draw stick men to show the agency what the ad should say and look like

16. “make the logo bigger” is not going to go away

17. the expression “think outside of the box” will be officially banned for use by anyone in the creative sector and its use subject to fines

18. millennials will still not read newspapers or watch the 7 o’clock news on tv

19. more agency and client side people will do side gigs and more bosses will say “once you do your wuk, I doh care what you do”

20. locally made artisanal brands will flourish

21. KFC’s prices will go up and we will all still love it

22. artificial intelligence will be more commonly used for copywriting and ad design

23. a client will ask an agency to do a post that goes viral
