Guava Season

In January’s gloom, our ad agency seethes
With budgets smaller than bikini and beads
Christmas has passed, leaving pockets so lean,
Very few brands in sight, even less on the scene

‘Twas a season of cheer, of grand expenditure,
Now quiet reigns, not many ads after reindeer
While Trinidad jumps to Carnival’s calypso beat,
Work from home is starting to feel like a retreat

Airwaves are jammed with Panorama’s tune,
Fatima fetes under the bright carnival moon.
But here in our space, the vibe’s not the same,
Guava season: advertising in Jan by a next name

Once wild fruits fed those with naught in their purse,
Now January’s a curse, for ad agencies, it’s worse.
Consumers’ wallets too, on a diet, thin and wary,
Christmas joys, boy were they extravagantly merry.

While revelers dance to sweet calypso’s sound,
Our spreadsheets show budgets tightly bound.
In a land of festivity, wine, women and song,
Some in the agency resort to digital ping pong

January’s here and please go we solemnly chant,
A month where ad budgets like costumes are scant.
Oh, for some more clients with more cash to invest
Give dem strategy and tactics that make dem best

But hold on tight, my agency mates,
For guava seasons pass, such is fate.
Soon the carnival’s over & will fade away,
Brands will sing aloud, “I come out to play.”

So, let’s raise a cup of our pepper office brew,
To January’s end, and soon after, Carnival too
For ad folks like us, we are resilient and we keen,
Bess ads to come from Barry, Tanker and Ramdeen.
