I have figured out a competitive advantage for our small Agency. For pepper advertising to win, we must adopt a first minute attitude. You see often, like the rest of T&T, we don’t tell others on our team what we need to get done and their role in making it happen. We wait until the last minute.
And we believe that sending an e-mail means that our job is done. And of course we can always have proof that we acted since we sent an e-mail. But our goal is to communicate well not e-mail well. E-mail has gotten in the way of communication.
So why do we wait until the last minute? Next Year’s Carnival is Monday and Tuesday 11 and 12 February, 2013. Nothing will change that except an Act of God or Jack Warner. Why will we wait until December 2012 to really start working on it? Why do our clients wait so long to give a brief and or approvals? Why do we wait so long to respond to clients’ requests? Why do our suppliers take so long to respond?
We love last minute as a people. And John Ray’s 17th Century adage is still true four centuries later. “The early bird catcheth the worm.”
