ChatGPT is a chatbot launched by OpenAI in November 2022.
made my maiden voyage a few days ago
here are my first impressions:
it’s not too shabby
briefed the chatbot to write copy for a campaign and asked it do it from 5 different angles, which I identified. provided examples of other works that it could use as inspiration for each angle.
gave it the brand’s point of difference [aka strategy] and also its personality and some words it should not use in the campaign. as those words belonged to competing brands. also gave it a consumer insight.
in minutes the friendly chatgbt came back with copy for all 5 approaches. they were not wow! but they were good.
so for now I see it being:
– a fire starter, like the twigs you use to start your bbq. it serves to inspire where you go with the concept
– you know the brand better than the chatbot. so you can take an idea from it and localise it or reframe it. you must have market intelligence
and copy writing skill to do that. so copywriters you still have a job, until chatgbt gets some more match practice
-speed is not a nice to have in today’s marketing communications. It’s a mandatory. bots can help us go faster and likely better
chatgbt will only get better, mainly because we will get better at briefing the bot.
better briefs better advertising, is true for humans and chatbots.
chatgbt gets my vote. (as if it needed it)
