Doing Cartwheels in T&T

My grandson Rocco announced excitedly yesterday (via Skype, complete with demonstrations) that he could do cartwheels. It got me thinking about how much we could learn from the innocence and enthusiasm of youth.

So many of us have stopped doing cartwheels in our job, our studies, community and sporting groups, our marriage and other relationships. We are just showing up and doing just enough to get by. We hide in a sea of mediocrity because it’s far easier to sing with the choir rather than doing a solo. That’s the safer way, to hide any imperfections. But sometimes the whole choir sounds bad because it comprises so much ordinariness.

I think in T&T many of us have stopped doing cartwheels. We have resigned ourselves to the fact that we can’t change anything, so why rock the boat? But a little 5 year old who has not been tainted by life offers an alternative. We can all do cartwheels and turn this upside down world around.

Thank you Rocco. Thanks for that sublime solo.
