I can’t remember the context, but Lloyd Best once told me “don’t waste trump.” I was at Stag when he told me that so it must have had something to do with the beer war that we were in the middle of. Mr Best was the brightest man I ever knew and I regret not spending more time with him. He was an exceptional thinker who casted his ‘pearls before swine’ like myself. We never did understand him. Most of us. And we are paying for it. He wanted no part of what most of us pursued and are still pursuing: instant gratification. For him the short cut was not only the wrong way but the long way.
Luckily for us there are his writings. A lot of them. And a few disciples. We may understand him yet.
