Today I went to Republic Bank to cash a cheque. The thought of going to the bank on a Friday around noon is quite daunting. I was pleased to see that the line was somewhat short. As I stood at the end of the 9-people queue, with earphones in both ears, listening to the progress of hurricane Mathew, I saw a Republic Bank staffer holding a tray of mini containers speaking to those ahead then having them take one of the small containers as she made her way along the line. I did not know what she had told those before me, so when she got to yours truly, I said, “I missed the introduction.” She then explained that it’s customer appreciation week and they are serving ice cream today. The little containers were different flavours of Munch Kings ice cream. I got coconut.
Always in a mischievous mood, I told her, “So I should have come since Monday, every day.” She then went to tell me of the treats they had served all week, which even included corn soup!!! By now other people in the line jumped in, jokingly suggesting that they will come on Monday, to which our girl said, “It’s customer appreciation week. It ends today.” So a lady at the head of the line said, “Well Republic Bank should have customer appreciation month.”
The friendly employee smiled and said, “If you want, we have a pan side coming to play this afternoon to entertain the customers.”
Dear Republic Bank, the ice cream, your wonderful hostess and the nice complement of tellers that had the line moving at a good pace, all made me feel appreciated. Thanks!
