After attending the Annual Salt and Pepper Annual Fundraiser last night I got thinking about my school again. Salt and Pepper allows Fatima Old Boys who can cook to show off their skills and raise some dollars for their school. It also allows some to pretend that they can cook while shamelessly lapping up the accolades that properly belong to their wife, mother-in-law or their caterer.
Fatima Boys are special boys. And we see the best of Fatima in the Committee headed by Barry Davis, President of FOBA. A selfless bunch of committed, hard working fellas who are single-minded in their focus to do good for their school. And with the rains that came yesterday, lesser mortals would have turned back. They would have called off the journey. Not these boys. They were on a mission last night and will be on the same mission tomorrow. To serve their school.
What is it that caused this? What do they put in the Fatima water? I believe it is the fact that Fatima’s leaders have always worked to produce well-rounded students. Students who don’t only focus on passing exams. Students who are also encouraged to be a part of their community. And that, for me, is the point of difference in what we produce at Fatima. It’s our usp, our “one thing”, our differentiator. Someone forgot to pray to Father Cocoran about the weather. It didn’t matter though, because we’re talking about Fatima Boys.
