(Full disclosure the Agency I lead, Pepper, does work for ANSA McAL)
John Barrow, a professor of mathematical sciences at Britain’s Cambridge University, believes that man can run 9.4 seconds in the 100 metres. It got me thinking about how some companies continually push themselves to do better and better. Like the 100 metres athlete, they use a combination of natural talent and science to win their market battles. But most importantly these companies create a culture of staying hungry and never relax with victories.
Harvey Mackay put it nicely in his blog; ‘If you ever achieve your goal, be like Curt Carlson, the billionaire founder of the Carlson Companies, the parent of the Radisson Hotels. As a young soap salesman, Curt used to set yearly sales goals for himself, write them down and stick them in his wallet. About halfway through the year, when he reached his annual target, Curt would tear up the slip of paper, toss it, and set another goal.”
I think one of our equivalents in Trinidad and Tobago is the ANSA McAL Group, created by its Chairman Emeritus, Dr Anthony N. Sabga. They are always moving the finish line.
