For me Trotters wins the service game in Trinidad and Tobago hands down. And I mean across all categories; restaurants, banks, insurance companies, utilities and even neighbourhood bread and roti shops.
Trotters has cracked the service code. And they do it consistently and regardless of who serves you. I don’t know their inner workings nor have I spoken to any of their staff or owners. I suspect though that they have honed in on a list of attributes that are important to customers. And they just deliver them every day. It’s almost like you’re in another country when you go there.
And I came back to the real world earlier this week when I visited Chinese Bar-b-Q, just down the street from Trotters on Maraval Road. Now that experience was more like the regular Trini bad service, except much much worse. They trade on price I’m told and variety of their menu. They sure don’t trade on service. You would not believe how the cook and cashier handled a simple customer request. It was like a skit on bad service designed to train people what not to do. It was like role playing except they were not playing; it was real. Real bad.
Just 2 blocks up the road Trotters is getting service right. I wonder what they are putting in their employees soup?
