I took this photo at the Playboyz Panyard yesterday, the red t-shirt of the tenor player reflecting on the instrument. I stood riveted as Supernovas of Arouca (Samaroo Jets re-made) mesmerised us with a repertoire that hit the sweet spot. But the selection that got me really emotional was their interpretation of “It’s now or never”. It sounded at first like a hymn then it turned into Elvis’ love song.
Maybe it was because songwriters Aaron Schroeder and Wally Gold’s title may have reminded me of the state of my country. However, I went from sadness to joy as the Supernovas’ players served up generous portions of hope. Jit was not there, but he was present.
