today the word story has been cleaned up telling stories is a good thing
besides strategic, quality and social media
anecdotally, it’s one of the most used words in the vernacular of us marketing folks
it gained currency with the rise of social media and the change from one way broadcast of traditional advertising [press, radio, tv]
people don’t just want you to tell them why they should buy your brand
they want to know a lot more about your company
like the father sessing up his daughter’s latest visitor
who’s your dad?
what school you go to?
what subjects you doing?
do you play sports?
is that your BMW outside?
stories are all the rage
and as john agitation would say: let me come to the subject of the morning
our carnival story needs to be told and nurtured
bikini and beads are not proprietary
tamboo bamboo is
stick fighting is
ol’ mas is
the midnight robber is
jab jab is
steel drum music is
the flag woman is
in building the modern carnival
we need to tell our story
the parts that make us unique
the parts that prop up today’s party
otherwise we’re indistinguishable
people must know where they are
