“Urban Heartbeat – An artistic encounter in public spaces”
The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Abovegroup Ogilvy and the Goethe-Institut Mexiko present Urban Heartbeat in Port of Spain. This regional project features artists from Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. Together with German painter Jim Avignon they will create a mural at the East Wall, Grand Stands, Queens Park Savannah. Painting will start on Tuesday, 27th March until Thursday, 29th March. Nine local winners from Trinidad and Tobago will partake in the creation of this amazing mural and we’re very excited and extremely proud to support one of our own… Marie-Elena Joseph.
About the artist:
To sum up Marie in one word would be a challenging task. To keep this post from reaching biblical proportions with the amount of sheer awesomeness I could say about Marie would be equally as daunting. Okay, I admit it – I’m a fan. Marie is… To say the least… One of the most dymamic individuals I know. She makes us laugh uncontrollably with her insane/ridiculous stories (some of which you’d swear were written for an SNL comedy sketch). She’s a fitness maniac. She falls down a lot. She’s all kinds of loud and crazy. She’s extremely talented and since joining +pepper in 2011 has been a driving force in the “One Thing” that we do best – Deliver Moruga Scorpion levels of hot creative.
Marie attended the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD University, Savannah, GA) and graduated as a magna cum-laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Illustration. Her previous work experiences include Nickelodeon/MTV New York as a design intern, later transitioning to a project manager assistant. During that time she worked on various illustrations for widely popular cartoons and shows, including “Sponge Bob Squarepants” and “Dora the Explora”. Her focus on both traditional and digital aspects of the illustration world is what sets her apart from the rest and we’re glad she’s part of team pepper.
“Laughing is a necessity in my day. My passion is art – either being part of a creative project or creating work – once I have some sort of input I’ll be happy.”
We’ll be there to support Marie throughout the event and also to celebrate the finished mural on Thursday, 29th March at 7:00 p.m.
