Genius (plural geniuses[1][2]) is something or someone embodying exceptional intellectual ability, creativity or originality, typically to a degree that is associated with the achievement of unprecedented insight. (source: Wikipedia)
I’m going to take a stab at starting a list of geniuses that we have produced in Trinidad and Tobago, as we approach our 50th Anniversary as an independent country. I call a genius someone who has left an indelible mark in their field, a one of a kind talent who will always be the gold standard.
I would love to hear some of yours, including areas like medicine, education, social work, entrepreneurship and any other areas that have produced a genius. Any candidates from Tobago? Dwight Yorke? ANR Robinson?
Here goes with my possibles:
- Lloyd Best
- Kitchener
- Sparrow
- Dr Eric Williams
- Brian Lara
- Clive Bradley
- Dr Anthony N. Sabga
- Hasely Crawford
- Beryl Mcburnie
- V S Naipaul
- C L R James
- Peter Minshall
- Samuel Selvon
- Sir Learie Constantine
- Jean Michel Cazabon
